Making a Case for Keenum
Published: 11/25/2011 3:48 PM

Houston’s Case Keenum showed enough against Tulsa to put himself in the hunt for at least one Heisman vote - mine.
That doesn’t mean he’ll get it. Oklahoma State’s Brandon Weeden, Alabama’s Trent Richardson and Stanford’s Andrew Luck are certainly still alive, too.
However, Keenum has made his case through a record-setting career.
Keenum was terrific in a 48-16 victory over Tulsa on Friday at Chapman Stadium. He had his usual numbers and had two memorable fourth-down touchdown passes.
Whether that is enough to get him to the Heisman Award Presentation in New York is yet to be determined.
However, at times against Tulsa, Keenum looked the equal or better than any of the four Heisman-worthy quarterbacks that TU has played this year - Weeden, OU’s Landry Jones and Boise’s Kellen Moore.
Perhaps he is not better. But, make no mistake, he is in the same league.
Keenum has one more chance to make his case. He’ll need a big day in the Conference USA Championship Game on Dec. 3 to get more Heisman attention.

In a subjectively judged beauty pageant dominated by voters who unapologetically and unabashedly display homerism towards their region, their conference, and/or their respective State...

For a voter with a history of in-State homerism when it comes to everything from Heisman candidates in Norman to the choice of in-State recruits...

When afforded the opportunity to advance the image of the State that one represents and with nothing personally to lose????

Fascinating!

BTW, John,

Do you know that oSu is a Oklahoma school and that Houston is not?

Do you know that Brandon Weeden is a graduate of a Oklahoma High School and that Case Keenum is not?

Do you know that splitting the votes from this region only assures that the trophy goes to a region that does not?

Do you know that a Oklahoma kid from a Oklahoma School winning the Heisman makes for a much better story-line in Tulsa, Oklahoma than does a kid from a different State does?

Do you know that other than possibly affecting the outcome, your vote matters not?

By all means, use your vote as you see fit.

Render judgement based upon performance as you see it... and when it comes to the Voters and their voting performance, we Oklahoman's will do the same.

If you don't like the tag, dump the profile.

Who cares about the Heisman! Just like the dumb Hollywood awards show, it doesn't mean anything. Yawn!

Keenum deserves the vote over Weeden or Jones. Look at the numbers but RGIII is the best QB in the land.

Well, I saw Landry Jones, Weeden, and Keenum in person this year, and I've seen plenty of Luck and Moore on the tube, and Moore in person in the past. In my opinion, Keenum is far and away the best QB. I am tired of hearing that he is a system QB with a week arm. Bull. He throws darts at the speed of sound at 40 yards, and can chuck it 60 yards if need be, all with incredible accuracy. Will he be playing on Sundays? I have no idea, but as far as college QBs go, the records don't lie. Keenum is the best EVER.
