Malcolm Kelly still holds the standard...

... when it comes to rapping Oklahoma football players. (What, you thought I was talking about OU wide receivers? Ryan Broyles has taken care of that.)
The Sooners' Tony Jefferson dropped his version of Wiz Khalifa's "Black and Yellow" recently. Replace "Black and Yellow" with "Boomer Sooner" and you get the gist. Or maybe you don't, if you've never heard of Wiz Khalifa.
I've heard of Wiz. I've heard "Black and Yellow" a lot, being that my kids are 13 and 11. I have to admit I really enjoy it, probably because I'm a Steelers fan.
I enjoyed "Boomer Sooner." My favorite rhyme:
"Breakin' records, breakin' ankles, it's a custom to what we do… Makin' the boss happy, yeah I'm talkin' Coach Stoops."
Basically, Jefferson shows a LOT more rapping potential than Josh Jarboe. But he still has a ways to go to match Malcolm Kelly's freestyle after OU's Big 12 championship victory Dec. 2, 2006.
"Maybe AP, maybe AD, I ain't even trippin cause we some ath-letes.
"Messin with Schmitty in the summer-time. He gets p****d if we don't make our time.
"But we gonna get it, cause we gotta finish. Nebraska Cornhuskers, man we diminish...
"Maybe back door, maybe fall off. Sipping codeine cause I got a killer cough.
"Let me sit sideways in the big Benz. OU boys, they my brothers, they my friends.
"Holler at Coach Sumlin, holler at the Stoops. Let me sit sideways in a two-door coupe."
Kelly put on quite a show that night, with 10 catches, 142 yards and two touchdowns. Then he strutted into the Arrowhead Stadium locker room for his encore. Bars of gold, baby.
