Maybe Big 12 Does Have a Future

Texas and Oklahoma athletic department officials have said in recent weeks that they preferred to stay in the Big 12 Conference all along.
A year after the league nearly split apart, and did lose two members, OU and Texas folks are saying it was not nearly the implosion we imagined.
Joe Castiglione, OU’s athletic director, said the Sooners were committed to staying in the Big 12 and worked toward that goal throughout the Pac-10 courtship last June.
Texas T Association executive director David McWilliams, who has been with UT for 50 years including as head football coach, said the Longhorns never really wanted to leave.
So, everyone listened to what folks had to say and then the Big 12 stayed together.
Everyone seems committed to making it work in the new 10-team Big 12.
We originally thought the Big 12 might not work for another four or five years.
But, to hear folks talk these days, makes one believe it may have a much longer and stable life.
