McCoy Could've Changed Outcome

There has been a lot of talk that even Colt McCoy would not have changed the outcome of the Alabama victory over Texas in the national championship game.
Wrong. McCoy would have made a huge difference. The chances of the Longhorns winning would have gone up considerably if he had played the whole game.
You think Sam Bradford would have made a difference for OU this year? You think the Sooners lose five times if Bradford plays the whole season?
What about OSU. You think the Cowboys would have lost four times if Dez Bryant and Kendall Hunter had played the whole season?
Great players make a difference.
The theory that McCoy wouldn't have made a difference makes no sense to me. Of course, he would have been a big difference and we might be talking about the national championship in Austin these days.

That's the difference between OU and Texas fans. OU is full of 'if only.' This person, that unit is injured, the refs screwed us, on and on.
'Bama was the superior team that night. Period. Still proud of the Horns but they lost. No excuses.

I'm a Sooner fan - but even I recognize that WITH McCoy, the Longhorns probably score TD's instead of settling for FG's on their first two possessions. At that point - down 14-0 instead of 6-0...Bama's players probably react a little differently (panic, maybe).

As well - WITH McCoy, Bama doesn't get as many as four additional possessions during the game. McCoy was worth 10 additional 1st downs for Texas. That, by itself, changes the entire game.

He would have made it more entertaining but I don't believe it would have change the outcome. He played conservative and looked intimidated, ala Jason White. On the play he got hurt, he ran into the line totally unguarded. Against us he's ducking, dodging, breaking tackles. Once I seen him going into the locker room I knew it was over. Bama basically toyed with Texas after that. The last touchdown was petty but, "to the victor belong the spoils."

The same McCoy who nearly threw the season away aganst Nebraska? Didn't show anything against that defense, did he? Joe Montana might have made a difference, but not McCoy. I predict he'll "achieve" Chris Simms-like success (if that) in the NFL and will just be a trivia answer in a few years.
