Media Foul

Here's an example of the harm that can come from trying to know it all.

Russell Westbrook of your OKC Thunder has been one of the best players in the NBA this year, an all-star, a team leader.

So he has a bad game the other night. Shoots 30 times. Loses his temper. OKC loses on the road, at Denver, no big deal, happens all the time.

But the media went berserk, stop shooting so much, they wrote, he looks out of sorts, Hee Haw Radio hosts spoke. Even the coach said Westbrook shot too much. Hey coach, what ever happened to keeping it private?

And so now Westbrook looks part disappointed, part pouty, part depressed, and, heading into the playoff's second round, all confused. His wild style of play helped propel the team to this point. It can't go farther with a key player confused. Westbrook is a kid. Keep your complaints private people.

But What Do I Know? (last year)
Well Russell Westbrook knows what it's like to be QB at OU. But he's getting it from the OSU fans too!

Agree.

Even though this is standard hypocrisy by the Picker, it is right on the $$. In many games this season Westbrook has been the Thunder's best player and carried them to victory. Anyone remember a win AT Boston without KD or the next night a 3 ot win AT New Jersey? Westbrook had like 42 in that game...Funny how THE superstar can have terrible shooting nights and bad turnovers and decide not to guard anyone (see game 4) and it's cool. I wouldnt trade Westbrook for anyone, he's just what this team needs. Ty Lawson may be the toughest matchup for Russell because he may actually be quicker. Now that he's gone, it'll be business as usual for Westbrook.

BTW, bgb, how in the world can you say the Oklahoman's coverage in bested by the World??!! The TW barely admits the Thunder even exists and only now that they are in the 2nd round are a there a few columns about the team as oppposed to the AP wire articles you usually get.

I dont know how shooting the ball thirty times is private. I watched the same game and Brooks just told the truth. I just hate watching him dribble ten seconds while a player is wide open under the basket. He also charges too much in certain situations with three point shooters open on the side. I like the kid, but I hope he just gets that under control. He is a great player just needs time to mature. In saying that we need him as much as we need Durant to play well.

Did any of you rascals notice that this morning in the Daily Oklahomering that the lead article was about Ibaka taking the spotlight after the Perkins trade? Let's see, didn't somebody else mention that about an hour after the trade took place?

How's that for a nickname kids.

The Daily Oklahomering.

I agree, Pick. I suffered through the entire 5-6 pm hour on the Sports Animal where they went on and on about Westbrook. All of a sudden, the Thunder lose by 3, and the sky is falling.

I find it humerous you slam the Oklahoman picker, when clearly they are the lead paper of the state. If I recall, didn't your rinky dink rag have to sign an agreement to run Oklahoman stories in your paper because you don't have the resources to cover such stories? Nice job on charging for online content, that is like having one foot in the grave.... RIP T-World....

JG78, our new numbers are through the roof, thanks for asking. Isn't the OU stadium named Gaylord's place? Nobody at that place could carry out towel.

Wow Pick,
Hook, line, and sinker. A little on edge? Felt the need to respond. Please stick to double A ball, minor league hockey and making fun of OKC.

Funny, I heard your subscription numbers have decreased year over year, The TW have cut staff, and you can't even afford to send staff to cover the Thunder. So, if by through the roof you mean on life support, I guess you are right...

Though, I walked by Haisten last night at his sweet press seats. It is pretty big of him to make it down for a playoff game. His insight has been priceless;) It was nice seeing his two paragraph front page story on Monday.... At least he had good seats.

Thanks for gracing us with your presence in OKC.
