Medium Game Bob

We have come up with some pretty solid nicknames here at the Picks, Tony Turnover for the Dallas quarterback for one. What did he have the other night, seven, eight turnovers?

Medium Game Bob is one of our best because it was so far ahead of its time.

OU media cheerleaders stamped the Sooner coach with the Big Game Bob tag after his national championship oh, so many years ago versus Florida State and its quarterback, who did the monster flop in the NFL.

Then, as OU began showing up consistently overrated in the mid 2000s, losing the large ones and killing the big game buzz, we came up with Medium Game Bob, which has fit perfectly for five or so years.

At a school like OU, big games are defined as all those contests that keep you in the national title hunt.

And suddenly we're a little worried.

We're worried about losing the Medium Game Bob nickname.

OU has started losing medium games right and left.

The upcoming Texas Tech contest is a classic medium game: the foe has second-rate recruits, a gimmicky offense, a blowhard coach.

We could never resort to something like Small Game Bob.

Go Sooners!

Smash Tech!

Save our nickname!

Aw man, that's mean!
Hopefully Bob enjoys that big paycheck enough to overcome the trash talk.

I'm sure he does, otherwise why would he stick around and tolerate it?

Going back to last year, the coach formerly known as Big Game Bob has lost 3 out his last 4 conference games. Should he lose to Tech, he will be on the brink of a 3-game losing streak as the game against Texas nears. It might be time for OU and Stoops to go their seperate ways.

How about "At least he's been there Bob"? There are coaches around here that are "never been there" He does seem a little like "Too complacent Bob"!

If the Sooners don't play well against TT, it is going to be a long season.
PS: Congrats to the picker for last weeks pics, I had a 13-3 week and thought I had Mr. Picker cold. However, it was not to be. I am confident of a win this week. May the best nimrod win.

Time for the OU coaches to earn their paychecks.

Out Pick The Picker

The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
