Meteorology Lesson

I don't wish anything bad for Bethpage or the USGA. But maybe the rest of the golf universe was enlightened a little bit by the deluge that halted the first round of the US Open.
The enlightenment? Believe it or not, other places besides Tulsa have weather issues.
The PGA Championship was staged here in 2007 and, yes, it was hotter than dragon's breath.
I was waiting in line for a media luncheon during the 2007 PGA and, because I had a spare meal ticket, I gave one to an out-of-state gentleman who had misplaced his ticket.
I got offended when, in regard to the weather, he said, "How can anybody live here?" -- as if Tulsa was located two turnpike exits past Hades.
What I should have said is that I live in Tulsa because it's a place where somebody will give you a meal ticket if you misplaced yours. Instead, I bit my tongue.
Hopefully the weather will let up enough for the U.S. Open to be completed on schedule. And hopefully the USGA won't be scared away by the weather when it comes time to award another U.S. Open to Southern Hills.

Should have said it, Jimmy. Would have been an all-timer...

I really don't think there is anywhere to play that weather can't be an issue at some point. Surely, the weather won't prevent SH from hosting the open again.
