Missouri reader wants OSU player to sock governor

I expected to get not-so-nice emails from Missourians today after writing a column about Oklahoma State defensive lineman Shane Jarka. The column invoked the name of Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon in a not-so-flattering way.

But I only got one email from a person who identified themselves as being from Missouri and it made me laugh.

Here it is: "If you see Shane Jarka again, tell him he can punch our governor in the mouth, chest, or (bleep!) and I won't care. He may be a Mizzou grad, but I don't like him."

Nixon, when Missouri was making a case for Big Ten membership, took a shot at OSU and Texas Tech, implying that students at those schools weren't as smart as students at a couple of Big Ten institutions.

Jarka (one of three OSU defensive linemen to be chosen All-Big 12 last season) refrained from returning fire when shown Nixon's quote.

I got one other email in response to the column and it was from someone (don't know if the sender was from Missouri) who wanted to offer evidence to support Nixon's stance. I changed the subject and asked the sender how the Jonah Hex books could be so good and the Jonah Hex movie be so bad that it disappeared immediately from movie theaters. Answer: Hollywood got involved.

P.S. I've got nothing against Missouri. Any school that has a Beetle Bailey statue on campus is fine by me.
