Money Talks: Says Stay Home

Has the Oklahoma State Money Department gone stark-raving berserk?

For possibly the first time in Bedlam history, scalping prices for a college football ticket could be cheaper than face-value prices.

Something doesn't add up.

Pickens gives one trillion to mark the field with flecks of real gold, dyed white.

Then ticket prices are raised to a U2 concert level.

Players shouldn't give the raise-the-roof sign -- fans at the ATM machine should, over the cost.

Cash in a CD, take the family to a game.

Why enlarge the stadium if the tickets are too expensive for anybody to go?

I tried to post on the last thread, but it didn't take. Fate must have wanted me to post on this thread instead!

Excellent insight as always Jeremy, though if I wanted to read that much I'd buy ESPN's College Football Encyclopedia, lol. Picker, as always, you're brilliance shines brighter than the lights at Rhema. That line about the kid chin butting Bob Knight's hand, hilarious. I like to think I would have thought of it eventually.

By the way everybody, the Buckeyes should have beat Michigan by 20+.

I never thought Rivers would amount to anything either. Didn't he throw sidearm in college, and does he still? A lot of the quarterback's job is simply not making mistakes, hence the superbowl wins of Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson. Just don't turn the ball over--much like unforced errors in tennis, or even poker, where your winnings often come from the mistakes of other players.

As for little 12(see "World Picker", post #22), who cares? Good thing for Stoops media relations doesn't factor in to the equation.

Oh well, back to hunting the mouse that has taken up residence in the bottom drawer of my desk...happy turkey day all!

On the OSU money thing...Rick Reilly had a good column a few months back on all the money T. Bone is giving the football program, while at the same time some departments languish in dingy basements. Way to get your priorities straight OSU, though I am sure you are not the only school guilty of such behavior. At least it won't seem like such an incongruity if and when the football team starts winning!

Picker, I'm stuck in the rings of Saturn...what are the tickets going for in cow country?

WG...I'm not Sir Picksalot, I'm his unassistant.:)

The tickets for Bedlam range from $250 up to $600. It's one of those cut off your nose to spite your face deals. They have priced themselves out of most of their fans pockets...makes sense to me.

My tickets did not cost that much, because I am a season ticket holder. The only tickets left are in the suites, that include food and drink. Tough, if the ou trailer trash can't afford a ticket.
A Pickens gave the money, it was his money, and he got to say where it went. He has also given to academics,

Suites in A. Boones Farm Stadium? Do you know what makes the suites special in that stadium? They put fresh straw on the floors before each game.

And thanks for the info, Echo.

WG...I hand carried a couple of OSU/Nebraska tickets from Pryor to Vinita...I think the face value of those tickets was $175 each. I thought that was kinda steep. I don't know what part of the stadium they were in though and I will admit that my memory isn't the best in the world, so I could be mistaken on the exact price but don't think so.

Out Pick The Picker

The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column.
