Most Overrated, OU, OU or OU?

Here's an interesting question.

Who coaches the most overrated team:

Bob Stoops?

Sherri Coale?

Jeff Capel?

There's no denying OU has been vastly overrated across the sports board of late.

Why?

A cheerleading media, for one big reason.

Stoops has lost all those BCS games; Coale's team is too slow and couldn't win a national championship using six against five; Capel seems in a little deep.

We'd rank them this way in terms of being overrated: 1. Coale. 2. Stoops. 3. Capel.

Concerning the NCAA hoop tournament, this is fast approaching a bunch of junk with the richest, biggest teams dominating. An underdog may win a game early, then get blown away. Four one seeds last year, looks like more of the same here.

The problem is TV over-exposure by ESPN. Vitale and Patrick doing an ACC game feels exactly like the flu.

Who has even seen the teams off the beaten path, or even in the Pac Ten?

Picking this early is goofy.

Match-ups determine winners.

Here are some great draws: Kansas, Missouri, Duke. Any of these three have a legit shot at the Final Four.

Here are some great long shots: Southern Cal, Washington, UCLA, Arizona, Arizona State, that's right, the entire Pac Ten.

OSU is a toss-up with Tennessee, we'll take Tenn.

Nothing wrong with OU's draw, it's 50-50 with either Mich or Clemson; then 45-55 with either Arizona State or Syracuse.

Arizona State should take out Syracuse.

Gonzaga got a sissy draw until NC removes it.

Wake Forest has a good shot to eliminate Louisville.

Early final four vibe: Wake, Memphis, Duke, NC.
Memphis, NC title game, NC wins.

Quite an insightful thread you got going here. Mostly layed-off rocket scientists I guess.

Kansas is legit? Well, it certainly looked the part in its last three games.

So if I read the Picker right, he has OU at a 45 percent chance of reaching the final eight? Is that over-rated?

Did anybody notice Paris's father called out Coale? Said earn your fancy pay.

Bob: I like KU and Missouri a lot. The draws look great.

The mystery: the west coach teams. They're never on TV. You either have to guess that most can play. Or most can't. I'm guessing they're better than people think. The Iowa State guy at USC is mean as a rattler. Another reason to like the west coast teams is: they're farthest from the homer chumps at ESPN.

Early on:

Why can't Dayton take out WV?

A couple of teams that people have forgotten: Wake and Xavier. These used to be really good clubs and have just wandered off.

Trendy picks never do anything. Trendy picks are Western Ky., Syracuse, Arizona, Villanova, Purdue.

The OU match-up looks very dangerous, a bunch of Baltimore playground guys against a team in a bad mood.

I'll take OSU as a homer pick over a Tenn team who played in a very weak SEC this year.

I don't like Mizzou at all. Whatever happened to their press being the "home cooked variety?" I don't see them going far against teams on a neutral court.

Duke will also surely bust in the Sweet 16 as they usually do. Not enough athletes to rebound and play physical ball.

I know these games are all about match-ups, but it is very hard for a zebra to shed its stripes no matter what team they are playing.

Only the picker could complain about March Madness... Mexi, was the Big 12 tourney not a neutral court? I think they won the thing, and pretty easily. I agree with Picker, Morgan St. guys went into Maryland and beat them... also lost to a mediocre Utah team by about 30. Here's a question for you picker, can any other team claim a victory over 5 teams who won their conference tourneys as the Sooners can?
MexiMike (4 years ago)
dcood, who did Mizzou have to beat? OSU kept it very close and they had an AWFUL shooting night. Kansas was gone along with OU and Kansas before Mizzou had to play them. Their trek went through Tech, OSU and Baylor. Let's just wait and watch.
