My Cam Newton Vote
Published: 11/11/2010 7:47 AM

Cameron Newton remains at the top of my list for the Heisman Trophy.
That doesn’t mean I’ve voting for him.
But, so far, no one has given me a reason to not vote for him.
What is happening to Newton is a prime example of the new journalism. A few rumors have been fanned into a raging wildfire on the internet.
Is any of it true? Well, someone knows the truth but so far we don’t know.
It is irresponsible to say you would not vote for Newton without the facts. So far, we don’t have the facts.
We won’t likely know the facts when we start voting for the Heisman in a couple of weeks. That will make for some interesting decisions by voters.
Right now, if no solid information comes out that would make him ineligible, then Newton will not be impacted by the allegations.
Auburn is all in with Newton. Auburn said they are playing him and standing by him.
In other words, they have pushed all their chips onto he table betting that Newton is telling the truth that there were no violations. Apparently, the Auburn coaches believe it is true, too.
If not, this will blow up into a huge scandal and put in doubt the recruitment of all high-profile players.

Another Reggie Bush in the making.

MSU has NOTHING to gain by lying.

Auburn has EVERYTHING to gain by sticking by their boy.

John - your vote will be wasted if you give it to him. There's too much smoke for there not to be a fire.

And rather than "That doesn’t mean I’ve voting for him" I think you mean "That doesn’t mean I’m voting for him".

Luckily, the vote is still a few weeks away. Plenty of time for more information to be brought to light.

It's a witch hunt. MSU and the SEC has everything to gain by toppling Auburn down. Right now there is a bunch of hearsay from some guys who may have invested some time trying to get Newton at MSU. Maybe they paid Cecil Newton and Cam still decided on Auburn? Who knows...the kid has earned his status on the field and I don't think it would have changed regardless of where he went.

The best part of this for OU fans is it has deflected attention away from OU's basketball program and the paying of Jumbo Gallon and the pip squeak. OU's athletic department still deserves the death penalty for flagrant and repeated rules violations in the past 10 years. The NCAA will make an example of a small, inconsequential university like SMU, but let's see if it has the gonads to stand up to one of the big boys.

Cam was removed from the Florida Gators over receiving stolen merchandise. He has been caught cheating academically and has admitted that he knew about there being money offered for his commitment to play at Auburn saying that ($180,000.00) was too much. The NCAA rules state that whether a player knows that he is being "Shopped" around is irrelevant and makes him ineligible. The FBI has not yet released their findings to the NCAA, so despite their winning out, this will eventually be a vacated season for Auburn. That and the dispicable play by Nick Fairley should be enough for a death penalty for Auburn.
