NFL Quarterbacks? Ask Bill Young

The upcoming NFL draft explains a lot about Oklahoma State’s defense this past season.
With all due respect to Alabama and LSU, who bragged no one could touch those SEC defenses, those SEC defenses didn’t have to play anywhere near the type of offenses that OSU faced this past season.
Proof? The upcoming NFL draft.
NFL scouts are now saying there may be two franchise-changing quarerbacks in the draft - Stanford’s Andrew Luck and Baylor’s Robert Griffin III.
In addition, two other quarterbacks, Arizona’s Nick Foles and Texas A&M’s Ryan Tannehill, are being given first-round grades by some scouts.
What do those four quarterbacks all have in common? They all played against and lost to Oklahoma State.
The SEC argued that Oklahoma State’s defense wasn’t good enough to play for the national championship.
Here’s the opposite side of that argument. How would Alabama and LSU have done in games against those four quarterbacks?
We’re assuming the Tide and Tigers would have beaten the Cardinal, Bears, Wildcats and Aggies.
However, we believe Bama and LSU’s defenders would have given up plenty of yards.
So, when you want to analyze OSU’s defense in 2011, one needs to consider the opposition.
Just in case those four quarterbacks aren’t enough to convince you that OSU’s defense played a far superior schedule, as far as offenses go, then consider the rest of the schedule, too.
The Cowboys also faced Oklahoma’s Landry Jones, considered a first round choice in next year’s NFL draft. Tulsa’s G.J. Kinne is highly regarded by NFL scouts, too.
In addition, there was Kansas State’s Collin Klein, Texas Tech’s Seth Doege and Missouri’s James Franklin.
All of those players may have NFL futures.
So, don’t be so quick to criticize OSU defensive coordinator Bill Young. No other defensive coordinator in the nation had such a tough assignment, against so many great quarterbacks, as Young.

Loved it until you said that Colin Klein might have an NFL future. After that, the post lost all credibility. I'm as orange as you can get so I'll tout all opposing QB's OSU played this year, and while Klein is a very good and unique college football quarterback, he won't sniff the NFL. I have a better arm than Colin Klein.

Collin must be related to get those kind of accolades.
