NFL's Hottest Seat? Romo
Published: 7/14/2009 7:07 PM

Those who worship at the shrine of Tony Romo would like you to believe there were two distracting divas who were holding him back from greatness: Terrell Owens and Jessica Simpson.

Guess what? Owens (shuffled off to Buffalo) and Simpson (shuffled back to Hazzard County) are gone and that means 2009 will be a no-excuses season for the Dallas Cowboy quarterback.

Allegedly, Romo couldn't fully exert his leadership in the past because T.O. was such a strong personality and because he had so many followers in the locker room. With Owens gone, it's time to find out if Romo is macho enough to be the big man on campus.

Also, Romo ran off to Cancun with Simpson prior to a 2007 playoff game. If this had been the Odyssey, we would blame the siren for luring the hero into peril. But since this is the Internet age, Romo was scalded for letting himself be distracted by the starlet.

"Would Roger Staubach have run off to Cancun with Jessica Simpson before a playoff game?" Cowboy fans asked.

Well, that's sort of gross. Staubach is, after all, 38 years older than Simpson.

But if Staubach was in his youthful prime, would he have spent a pre-playoff weekend with Simpson in Cancun? Only if he had any sense.

Can Romo do better than Simpson? Here's another question: Can the Cowboys do better than Romo?

You should know the answer after this season.

The Cowboys have a big coaching problem also, not just ROMO, Wade couldn't win with John Elway at QB in Denver, Dan Reeves went to 3 Super Bowls & lost with Big John, got fired & Wade took over, he lost for 3 years and then along came Shanahan and he then won 2 Super Bowls....

Bill Parcells (who said he didn't want a celebrity QB) got within a Romo fumble of a playoff win in 07', but his (Parcells) control of the team got Jerry jealous and he was gone....So in comes meat puppet Wade and there goes team discipline & guidance....Sure, blame T.O., but with Wade's limp noodle coaching approach expect another long long season for the Dallas Jerkin' Jerrys (Cowboys)....
