NHL Wins this Summer

Who would have thought that the National Hockey League would have the best summer of the professional sports leagues in America.
Gary Bettman, NHL Commissioner, is the only commish who is not dealing with some pretty ugly issues right now.
The NFL has the Michael Vick scandal, the on going legal woes involving Vick and dog fighting.l
The NBA has a ref who is accused of betting on games and mob connections.
And, major league baseball has the continuing Barry Bonds saga.
Bonds is going to play out very soon as he closes in on Hank Aaron's career home run record. It is the most important record in baseball. And, Bud Selig either needs to acknowledge the achievement or make public what he knows about Bonds' alleged steroid use.
The NBA is saying the ref situation is an isolated incident. How would they know that? If one ref can keep a secret, another could, too. So, you better investigate all of them.
And, trhere's nothing that can be done about Vick. That's going to play out in a court room and promises to get far more ugly as time goes on.
So, for once, the NHL has something to celebrate. No news really is good news.

Actually, the commisioner of the Professional Fastpitch League does not have to worry about any court dates for his players, either. The closest he ever comes to that is wondering if Jennie Finch will take maternity leave anytime soon again.
