Oklahoma should be warned and Oral Roberts heartened by their seeds in the NCAA.
The Sooners got what would appear to be a higher seed than expected with a No. 6. However, it would be foolish to overlook St. Joe's. And, ORU, with a No. 13, would seem to be in over its head against Pitt.
However, sixth-seeded teams get beat quite often in the tournament. And, it is not out of the question that a No. 13 would advance.
It is all about match-ups. How the Sooenrs and Eagles match-up in these games will matter much more than the perception of a No. 6 or No. 13 seed.
And, playing good on that particular day. As OU has shown this year, the Sooners can alternate from pretty good to awful from day-to-day.
Oral Roberts has been up and down, as well.
So, pay attention. It would appear Oklahoma or Oral Roberts got any guarantees.
But they did get an invite and that's the best news of all.

OU didn't deserve a NVAA berth. Get beaten by ONLY 28 by Texas and still get selected!! Guess the NCAA rewards renegade, cheating programs-prior coach cheats and school gets rewarded!!! Cheaters win in the end!!!

John, 6th seeds win about 70% of the time in the first round, as do their 5th seed counterparts.

In my book, that is not "quite often" as you say, although it is obviously more than 1-4 seeds and less than 7-10 seeds, as it should be.

The most telling number, though, is that 6 seeds and 3 seeds are about 50/50 when it comes to wins and losses. So if a 6 seed can get past the forst round, hisory says they have a chance.

But let's be honest. OU is an 8 or 9 hiding in a 6 seed position. And St. Joe's could, in reality, be anywhere from a 7-12 seed but due to their league, you never know.

If I were St. Joe's, I'd be thanking my lukcy stars that OU was gifted to a 6 seed and that they were the beneficiary.

And what are St. Joe's chances if they make it past the first round? 25% against a 3 seed and so far, an 11 seed has never lost to a 14 seed in the dance. FWIW, 6 seeds win 85% of their games against 14 seeds.
