A couple of interesting items have crossed through my email box the last couple of days, and I thought I would share them.

World copy editor Doug Graham forwarded this story from the Arizona Republic on former Broken Arrow star Archie Bradley. (Check out the full story here).

It seems Bradley is really impressing his new bosses with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

"You know how some hitters, there's a different sound off the bat?" minor-league pitching coordinator Mel Stottlemyre Jr. told the Republic. "It's a different look on how that ball comes out of his hand. We've got some other good arms out there; take nothing away from them. But this is different. We stay out of his way."

Stottlemyre goes on to say that in Bradley he sees a young Roger Clemens. That's pretty impressive praise.

Dylan Bundy, Bradley's high school rival, was sent down to Baltimore's minor league camp earlier this month.

He's supposed to start the season at one of Baltimore's Class A affiliates -- either Delmarva (Salisbury, Md) or Frederick, Md.

You can read a little more about Bundy's development here.

I got a note this week from former Tulsa assistant track coach Andrew Maloney.

Maloney has just completed a book on former University of Arkansas coaching legend John McDonnell. McDonnell won 42 NCAA championships in 36 years as the Razorbacks' track coach.

Maloney's book contains this quote from former Arkansas football coach Frank Broyles. It goes along well with the discussion we had earlier this week about what is expected of coaches.

"Anybody can do things the right way, but the winners get the right things done," Broyles said.
