No Bowl Better Than Pro Bowl?

On Sunday, for the first time since August, no football games were played.
Since this is a football state, that's a big thing, although nowadays I think we are creeping ever-so-close to becoming a women's basketball state.
After the Super Bowl, football-cherishing Oklahomans will have to go entire months without watching a game, unless you count the Pro Bowl, and I don't.
The Pro Bowl is the worst of the major sport all-star games. It's something you get excited to watch when you are perhaps 14 years old -- "hey, Fran Tarkenton is handing off to Walter Payton!" -- and then the novelty wears off.
Baseball, I suppose, has the best all-star game because it comes at midseason and it feels worthwhile. Basketball has a midseason all-star game, but it's more exhibition than game and the last time one had a cool factor was when guys from the east took turns squaring off one-on-one against outgoing icon Magic Johnson. That had a special "you are watching history" feel to it.
Maybe it's time for the Pro Bowl to go away. I can't imagine anyone watches it on TV, even in a football state like the one we live in.
