Hey, city of Tulsa. Want to do the right thing when it comes to honoring Wayman Tisdale on Thursday?
You do? Good.
Here's the deal: Don't give out any parking tickets Thursday.
People who want to mourn Tisdale and celebrate his life will pack the BOK Center on Thursday. People attending the service don't need to be looking at their watches and trying to figure out whether they need to leave their seats and plug quarters into a parking meter.
After the service, no one should return to a car that has a yellow piece of paper slipped under a wiper blade. Have a heart, folks, then go back to ticketing cars on Friday.

Tulsa World sports writer Jimmie Tramel is a former class president at Locust Grove High School. He graduated magna cum laude from Northeastern State University with a journalism degree and, while attending college, was sports editor of the Pryor Daily Times. He joined the Tulsa World on Oct. 17, 1989, the same day an earthquake struck the World Series. He is the OSU basketball beat writer and a columnist and feature writer during football season. In 2007, he wrote a book about Oklahoma State football with former Cowboy coach Pat Jones.
