Norm Stewart: 'Anger' among factors in Mizzou's move to SEC

One final Norm Stewart story before Missouri makes perhaps its last basketball appearance in Stillwater:

During a recent telephone interview, I asked the former Missouri coach if he would have preferred for the Tigers to stay in the Big 12 instead of defecting to the SEC.

Stewart talked about many things during his response, including a long-ago flirtation with another conference (he said a good guess would be the Big Ten) when he was coaching.

But I thought the most interesting thing Stewart said about the Tigers seceding from the Big 12 was this:

“Missouri became upset with the way the league was -- what would you say? -- organized,” he said. “And particularly that anger, and that’s what it was, was toward one school. That was a motivating factor. Anger shouldn’t be a motivating factor, but that’s what it was.”

Anybody got a guess at which school was the source of Missouri’s anger?

I agree! I hate the Cyclones.

Texas seems most likely. . . Mizzou will do okay in hoops but they aren't crooked enough to do well in football.

Not yet. They will be forced to become very crooked in the near future or they will regret their affiliation with the Special Ed Conference.
