Norse Mythology

My favorite Norseman is Thor, but Northeastern Oklahoma A&M is going to honor a few of its favorite Norsemen.
At 6 p.m. Saturday, NEO will launch an athletic hall of fame by inducting an inaugural class of 10 former Golden Norsemen or Golden Norse teams.
The honorees: Former footbal coach Red Robinson, former baseeball coach Homa Thomas, former football player Lonnie Graham, the 1959 national championship football team, former women's basketball player Dixie Woodall, former men's basketball player Jack Begley, former football player and ex-Minnesota Viking Matt Blair, former NJCAA All-American Doug Matthews, former baseball player Gene Hart and former baseball player Bob Maxwell.
Got a former Norseman you think should be honored? Nominations must be submitted on an official form available from the Development Foundation (918 540-6250). Or, maybe you could throw out a few nominees that you think are worthy at the bottom of this blog.
Thor, by the way, is ineligible, as is his wicked half-brother, Loki.

I can't imagine a Norse Hall of Fame that does not include Monty L. Franks. He taught journalism and was the Sports Information Director at NEO for 28 years until his retirement in 2004.

He never caught a pass, coached a game, nor played a down, yet despite NEO's rich football tradition, in 2005 was only the 3rd person connected with the program to be inducted into NJCAA Football Coaches Hall of Fame.

His name is synonymous with NEO A&M and I hope he will be nominated soon.

Tom: Monty is indeed someone who has worked behind the scenes for years to put NEO's best foot forward. I believe Monty is on the selection committee, but I agree with your words.

Cletus Green should be honored

Probably somewhat biased. Monty's my brother.

what about former football coaches Rube Berry who went on to coach in the CFL, and Glenn Wolfe who i think led NEO to a national championship.
