OKC Thunder Wins NBA Title?
Published: 2/24/2011 3:04 PM

Don't laugh.

Smile, maybe.

But it could happen.

The Thunder is serving notice to the old guys, who are everywhere in the NBA, by landing inside muscle.

True, it sent away a good young player in Green. Also true, the big man from Boston is not exactly the picture of health. But the move to beef up shows the Thunder thinks it has a chance now.

And how about that Tiger Woods. He just lost to a caddy in a match play tournament. As suggested earlier, as regards the majors, he's done, through, finished.

Think the Lakers at the Thunder Sunday might be worth watching?

Mr. Picker, your articles are worth reading just to see the farcical labels you put on certain folks. Take, for example, Tiger's opponents . . . or sports radio. Very funny stuff.

Except odds are that Perk will be out for that game... He busted his other knee up against the Warriors on Tuesday... Figured you knew that...

Gene, it figured that Tiger taunt would lure you to the screen. You're right, local sports talk radio is a rich source for unintentional comic relief. Nobody has explained, for example, how the OKC radio people could have gone from hacks to expert analysts simply because a team fell out of the sky.

New, surely you knew that Perkins had a mild knee sprain. Surely you knew that was to his good knee, not the one injured in the past. The odds are the Thunder will take out your Puddles Sunday.

BGB, it's a lot, so that story goes.

Picker-

Best/worst matchup for the Thunder:
-Mavs
-Spurs
-Lakers

Assuming "we" get past NO, Por, Utah, Hou in the 1st rd...

Picker is a genius compared to Blevins.

I don't know about an NBA title but I am excited that I never have to watch that big tall woman called Nenard anymore....

Jeff Green made too many stupid plays, yes he did some good things but then he'd turn around forget to guard somebody....

The PF position is just that POWER FORWARD, that was not Jeff Green's game, match him up with Nenard & you got a donut defense, nothing in the middle....

Good-bye Jeff, don't let the door spank on the way out Nenard....

Pads, why does everybody like Dallas so much?
Isn't it the same old Dirk Noshotski in the fourth quarter? Isn't Kidd still knocking paint off the square on the backboard?

The Lakers have been the toughest match-up simply because of all the size inside.

Pick,
I don't like Dallas at all, but they are 4.5 games ahead of OKC and have won in OKC twice this season already.

As the wise Rasheed Wallace once said, "Ball Don't Lie".

Anybody but LA or Miami...

"Nobody has explained, for example, how the OKC radio people could have gone from hacks to expert analysts...."

Anyone else see the irony in the Picker making that statement - the guy who didn't know the NBA existed until the Thunder arrived and now considers himself Marv Albert ? More like the clown Barkley...

I think in the greater scheme, this is an upgrade. Kirstic wasn't physical in the post, and OKC received two big bodies that will be able to rebound, bang, and hold their own. Also, Nate Robinson has game.

As far as the Thunder is concerned, this was a HUGE pick up (no pun intended) as long as Perkins can stay healthy. Nate Robinson is just along for the ride. He won't see valuable minutes.

I guarantee my Lakers, the Spurs, and the Mavs all had their stomachs turn just a bit when that trade went through. Sunday should be a great game.

As far as Tiger goes, I think the Pick is going a little far by saying he won't ever win another major.

But how about some love for Rickie Fowler?! Way to represent! Go Pokes!

Glad the Picker had 6 whole sentences about this trade that rocked both conferences...without the AP wire, which was printed in every sports page in the country, the TW did its standard 'nothing' when it comes to the Thunder. This trade made the Heat, Magic, and Bulls feel great and the Mavs, Lakers, and Spurs sweat. Huge trade...nice coverage as usual TW...

Great move by da’ Thunder.. But you’ll see Nazr Mohommend (traded from the Bobcats) get more minutes than Perkins, @ first. But the payoff will be next season IF they can sign Perkins to along term deal & of course IF he’s healthy enough

Didn’t Nate Robinson win the NBA ‘Dunking championship like 3 times? He’ll B a decent backup for Westbrook

Problem for Thunder, IF they finish w/ the 4th seed, they play San Antonio 2nd rd.

Tiger will “float” perhaps for a few years. But, as he matures & begins 2 see some grey hairs, he’ll get serious & have a resurgence, again. Remember he “only” needs 4 to tie Jack.
skip wag (last year)
this tells how popular the thunder is, out of the top 50 stories on the world web site there is only one about the thunder! HaHa
dcood (last year)
yeah good call skip wag...the Thunder arent popular at all. U live under a rock? The TW has a weird jealousy, paranoia about the Thunder that is really odd. You obviously havent been to a Thunder game or watched ESPN or TNT or read anything sports related to make such an asinine statement.
D.Wade (last year)
It seems like this past year sports all over have gathered together to strike at you personally Pick. All your predictions keep getting shot down. It was the demise of the Thunder not long ago. Now they are contenders? Didn't they get your memo that they were "done"? Now I have to wonder if Tiger doesn't come all the way back. I had a fork in him thanks to you. But this past year has been shaky for ya. Have you been slacking off?
Glenn616 (last year)
Yes, the Thunder could win a title within the next 5 seasons. Not this year, though. The Lakers and Spurs are better this season.
