ONEOK Field Even Better than Expected
Published: 4/10/2010 1:54 PM

We expected a pretty nice ballpark when ONEOK Field was opened on Thursday night.
It was better than we imagined.
ONEOK Field, the new home of the Tulsa Drillers, has more fan-friendly amenities than we could have expected.
It seems the Drillers thought of just about everything when it was designing and building their new ballpark.
As such, Tulsa sports fans should enjoy this new ballpark for many years. There's room to grow.
Plus, everything seems geared to make the experience of attending a game there very enjoyable.
Good job by the Drillers. It was everything and more than we could have expected.

Very true, John. I hope the team will be good enough to keep people coming out! Not looking too great thus far.

True, very nice ballpark. But they didn't think of everything. They need a small scoreboard on the firstbase side just below the suites. If you are sitting on the 3rd base side you always have to keep looking back to left field to see a scoreboad. They have a small scoreboard on the 3rd base side..WHY?? People sitting on the 1st base side can clearly see the scoreboard in left field! Also, the game I went to started at 6pm. The sun is a killer for all those sitting on the 3rd base side from about 5pm until sun goes down. WARNING! Do not sit on the 3rd base side for late afternoon starts!

The stadium is beautiful. Just don't sit on the 3rd base side. We left after the 2nd inning because we just couldn't see and were sick of craning our necks. We couldn't see home plate! Every person in every row in our section was leaning out to see around the person on their right. It was a ridiculous and uncomfortable chain reaction that had no solution. If they had only thought to angle those seats toward the bases a bit instead of pointing them straight out, the experience would have been a thousand times better. Ditto FreqMan on the sun issue as well.
