ORU Contributes to Hoop Heartache in the Heartland!

Several blogs back, we suggested ORU's basketball season could not be considered successful unless it won a game in the NCAA tournament.

Winning a weak conference means nothing; worse, it doesn't prepare a team for real competition.

Well: See?

If you've never won a tournament game, it's probably difficult to know how to act. But: This is not just in, this has been going on in the NCAA tournament for ever. THERE IS NO FLOPPING ALLOWED!

The way ORU players were emoting while reeling backwards, it looked like acting class.

You can't play like a bag of marshmallows in the NCAA tourney. This is a tough guy tournament.

It's not that ORU is terrible. Just unprepared by that conference. Washington State can play the game. It has nice guards. We figure Wash State to beat Vandy and take out Georgetown.

Were ORU and Washington State to play ten times, State would figure to win seven or eight.

In other early tournament news, it has become apparent that the game has passed Bob Knight. He can bully people he has under contract. But he can't bully the opposition. His motion offense was hot back in the forties or fifties. His puny little switching man-to-man defense was embarrassing against an average BC team.

Get him a fishing pole and a can of worms.

It no longer appears that he could coach our dog to a fire hydrant.
