ORU Takes First Step

Oral Roberts has not made it easy on itself in recent years at the Summit League Tournament.
The first round has been a tough test and the semis have been no breeze.
The Golden Eagles have had to fight back from a big hole in the championship game.
So, getting out to a huge lead in the first half and coasting home was a bit of welcomed news for ORU on Saturday night.
ORU beat Centenary, 84-56, in the first round of the tourney at the Union Multipurpose Activity Center.
Winning was great but be able to rest Robert Jarvis, ORU's injured leading scorer, was even better.
As a result, Jarvis should be closer to full strength by Monday's semifinal.
ORU figures to need all of its firepower in this tournament. Although it is the top seed for the fourth straight year, ORU figures to have more serious challengers this year than in any of the other four years as the top seed.
So, ORU coach Scott Sutton couldn't have hoped for a better opening night.
