ORU is Peaking at Great Time

This was not a case of Oral Roberts simply being far better than anyone in the Mid-Continent Conference.
Nope, Oakland was plenty good enough to have beaten the Golden Eagles if ORU had not been at its best on Tuesday night.
The Grizzlies have terrific young players and would appear to be the new favorite when the Mid-Con starts play next season.
And, after a brutal non-conference schedule that included six very difficult road games against major teams, Oakland was primed for an upset of ORU.
It didn't happen because Caleb Green was his usual self and then Ken Tutt, as he has done for four years, hit the big shots.
Adam Liberty put the game away with two free throws as the Golden Eagles head to their second stragiht NCAA Tournament.
This wasn't like last year, when no one was capable of challenging the Eagles.
This year Oakland was more than capable of beating ORU and many other quality teams at the end of the season.
ORU Scott Sutton saiid it was a terrific game between two pretty good teams. We would agree.
Oakland is good enough to beat some people in the BIT if it gets an invite. It probably won't but it should.
Meanwhile, thanks to the victrory at Kansas, ORU should be able to avoid the dreaded No. 16 and No. 15 seeds for the upcomjing NCAAs.
If so, the Golden Eagles are good enough as a No. 13 or No. 14 to scare the heck out of someone or even spring an upset.
Either way, Green and Tutt brought championship basketball back to south Tulsa over the last four years.
There's room for two great teams in town.
For that, we thank them.
