OSU Freshmen Best of Gundy Era

There’s no reason to believe Oklahoma State football is headed for a dramatic drop this fall.
The Cowboys have skill players, more defensive players than at anytime since the 1980s and if coaches are to be believed a true freshman quarterback that will do well.
And, the future past this season is apparently looking up, as well.
OSU coach Mike Gundy said at his first weekly press conference of the season on Thursday that the current crop of freshmen are the best the Cowboys have had since he’s been head coaach.
He said the same thing in 2010 and 2011. OSU is 32-7 in the last three years and 23-3 over the last two seasons.
OSU, finishing No. 3 in the major polls last season, has reached the top 10 in the polls at various points over the last four years.
Yes, consistently bringing in those strong recruiting classes has solidified OSU’s spot.
This freshman class will have an immediate impact. The starting quarterback, Wes Lunt, was a high schooler last year.
There are 13 freshmen (redshirt or true) on the two-deep depth chart.
Gundy expects a handful of freshmen will play significant roles this fall.
Five freshmen are listed on the depth chart as receivers/tight ends.
“We’ll find out how far we’ve come,” said Gundy about the new guys.
They’ll have to contribute pretty quick. In the first month, OSU faces a road game at Arizona and a Big 12 showdown with Texas in Stillwater.

Gundy is becoming to OSU what E.F. Hutton is to finance.
