OSU Song Debate is Silly

There is a debate among some Oklahoma State fans about a new song, Cowboys Forever, that will apparently be played sometime during the pregame of home games this season.
You’ve got to be kidding. Seriously. Someone actually cares what song is being played and when?
Is a song that important?
It is hard to imagine anyone thinks a song is that important or will make any difference.
Forget the song. Here’s what OSU fans should be concerned about: Is Zac Robinson completely healthy? Is Dez Bryant completely recovered? Will the defense be better? How will the Cowboys handle the celebrity and attention of being a top 10 team? How will they respond against a very good opponent in the opener?
Who cares what song is played. Who cares about a pregame video. I’d be more concerned about finding my parking place.
The game should be enough for fans. Debating a song seems silly at best.

If it's silly and irrelevant, why are you writing about it?

If debating a song is silly, then what is debating about the debating of a song?

Is the song AS important as all of those other factors you mentioned, John?

No. BUT this is why it means something to us: It is yet another gaff in the long list of OSU marketing decisions. There was no preview to be heard by the fans before choosing the song. It was forced on us and consequently blew up in Holder's face. Now he has backpedaled from making it the intro song into just a "promotional song played before the game starts."

The intro song and video IS important to us fans because it is entertainment we pay for each year. It is anticipated each year because it has gotten better each year (despite last year's Big and Rich song). The standard for everything at OSU has gone up and this song should have been no different.

On top of that, it is part of this whole new "Cowboys 4Ever" campaign that stinks something awful as well (Black and silver colors? The number "4" instead of the word "for?"). Not since the flaming insignia has the marketing department had an idea this bad. But that is a whole different topic for a different day.

As an OSU fan, I will be the first to admit our fan base is not happy unless there is something to gripe about.

We can't gripe about the preseason polls, because they have given us respect. We can't gripe about the national media because they are giving us respect. We can't gripe about OU fans attacking us early on because needless to say, even they think OSU could be in store for great things. We could gripe about the media's griping on Gundy's shutdown, but even we understand it's really irrelevant, it's just one week.

So what else do we have to complain about?

No one changed the jerseys, helmets, logo or tailgating rules.

There is no Les Miles/Mike Gundy debate.
There is no Bill Self/Sean Sutton debate.
We have played no games with our new Def Coord, so there is no Bedford/Beckman/Young debate.
There is no Chalupka/Lindsay debate.
There is no Reid/Robinson debate.

Please God, send us something to complain about, we are not sure what we are going to do???!!!!???!

Wait, our associate AD's son wrote a song? It's not upbeat? I hate it. Quick, start a Facebook page and a website. Get Schnake Turnbow and a lobby group on this, stat! This is important.

Have I heard the song? No

From what I hear, do I think it will be an appropriate intro song? No

Do I think it will make the difference on whether we win or lose? No

Do I think there are bigger fish to fry? Yes, like the Georgia Bulldogs.
