OSU, Sutton Need Some Victories
Published: 3/14/2008 3:15 PM

Sean Sutton has remained on the hot seat at Oklahoma State for some pretty simple reasons.
This will be the third straight season that OSU has failed to reach the NCAA Tournament. Sutton was the head coach at the end of all three seasons.
The Cowboys have lost eight straight games to their biggest rivals - five to Texas and three to Oklahoma.
You can argue the merits of Sutton as coach but the cold hard facts are not good after two full seasons as head coach.
The expectations for OSU basketball are far above the NIT, where the Cowboys will likely play next week.
Sutton knows it.
But for the critics, two seasons is far too short to make a final judgement.
Just for the record, John Blake got three years with OU football. Keith Burns got three years with TU football.
Sutton deserves at least three years to make it work for OSU basketball.

Sean is currently two games over .500, which is one game up on the football coach, who has finished 1 game over the past two seasons and under before that. So where's Sean's extension?

Sure, from our outsiders perspective, it appears that Sean should probably get another year. But we don't know everything. There may be other factors that Mr. Holder is being a professional about and not splashing across the papers. Give it a freakin rest!

John, I believe Sean is the right coach for OSU. I believe four years are needed to evaluate a basketball coach, not two or three. If there is a problem, it is my opinion that the players have not learned to finish a game that is winnable. Sean is going to be one heck of a coach some day whether it ist OSU or some other division 1A school.
