OSU vs. Iowa State: The aftermath
Published: 2/18/2010 7:19 PM

Let’s wrap up three loose ends (Keiton Page’s injury, Obi Muonelo’s explosion and a no-mercy schedule) following Oklahoma State’s road victory Wednesday night over Iowa State:

1, Page left the game with 2:40 remaining because of what appeared to be a thigh or groin injury. He was treated by athletic trainer Jason Miller and re-entered the game with 20 seconds left.

Coach Travis Ford said before a Thursday practice that Page seems to be fine.

Did Page suffer only a cramp?

"That’s what we’re hoping," Ford said. "To be honest with you, the trainer doesn’t know exactly what it was. He said it was a strange place to have a cramp. The symptoms were cramp-like."

Ford said Keiton couldn’t explain the injury either "other than he just felt a knot. I think it’s OK."

2, Muonelo scored a season-high 31 points against Iowa State, including 25 in the second half. I figured a Cowboy would go off against the Cyclones, but I picked the wrong Cowboy. I would have pegged James Anderson for an explosion because of a preseason conversation I had with Marshall Moses.

I asked Moses if Anderson, who is ultra-nice, ever gets mad.

"Stuff makes him mad, but he just kind of keeps it to himself. He doesn’t say much, but you can tell when he plays that he’s got a chip on his shoulder. I can tell games where he has a little something to prove or gets a little upset. If somebody fouls him too hard and he gets mad, I can tell."

Then Moses said this: "I think he may be gunning for Iowa State a little bit. He told me when he went to the USA games that Craig Brackins jokingly had exchanged some words about when Iowa State played OSU, but I think (James) kind of took it a little serious."

Anderson and Brackins were roommates and teammates on a bronze medal USA squad at the World University Games last summer.

Anderson scored 20 against Iowa State, but said he didn’t play his best game. Brackins scored 14 points of 3-of-17 shooting.

3, OSU has never played four consecutive ranked opponents during a regular season, according to information gleaned from the school’s basketball media guide.

But the Cowboys will do just that if the rankings remain steady. As of now, the next four opponents -- Baylor, Texas, Kansas and Texas A&M -- all are in the top 25.

If research is correct, the only time the Pokes have played four ranked opponents in a row came during the 2004 NCAA Tournament, when they faced No. 24 Memphis, No. 9 Pittsburgh, No. 5 St. Joseph’s and No. 14 Georgia Tech in succession.
