OSU basketball still has a lot of work left to do

As I was watching Oklahoma State's win over Iowa State, this question kept floating through my mind -- how many more games would the Cowboys have won this season if Lon Kruger were their coach?

While you ponder that, lets go back to Wednesday night.

OSU got most of the game's breaks down the stretch -- up until that most unusual offensive foul call in the final two seconds -- and did a nice job taking advantage of them.

But while I've heard many call it a big win, it was also a must-win.

Who among you think OSU will win at either Kansas this weekend or in Ames in March? I didn't think so.

Given the Cowboys' aversion to road games, I wouldn't be surprised if they struggle at West Virginia and Texas.

That makes at least a home split against Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma and Baylor a must if OSU wants to play in the NCAA Tournament.

In the latest NCAA RPI released Monday, OSU has slipped to 44 and into the danger range for an at-large berth. And while ESPN's bracket projections have consistently had six Big 12 teams in the field, OSU is currently a double-digit seed -- not exactly where you want to be, especially if the mid major tournaments feature a host of upsets.

And it's certainly an uncomfortable place to be this late in the season for a team with the potential of OSU.

Wednesday's game against Iowa State was certainly a nice win, but the Cowboys need quite a few more -- and they won't be getting any easier.

Thank our AD for hiring him. He is the problem and needs to go with Ford on down the road.
