OSU opener will be a (fashion) statement game

With Oklahoma State’s new football uniforms being perhaps the biggest story of the offseason, I was curious to see how the school would handle media day, which is fertile ground for photo opportunities.

Would every player be dressed in the same gear? Or would players all model different unis? There are 48 different uniform combinations the Cowboys could wear on game day.

It made sense, of course, for everyone to dress -- for lack of a better word -- uniformly at media day for group photo situations. For group photos, it’s easier on the eye if everyone looks the same. If you have an orange jersey next to a white jersey next to a gray jersey, it looks sort of someone emptied a crayola box and put all the crayons back in the wrong places.

Who will decide what uniform combination OSU will wear on opening day? Quarterback Brandon Weeden, who isn’t a fan of the all-orange look, said, “If I have any say, we’ll look good.”

Senior defensive end Richetti Jones knows some teammates -- he didn’t want to name them -- who shouldn’t be allowed to express an opinion when it comes to uniform decisions. He cited their fashion mistakes in “normal” life.

Jones isn’t worried about what color scheme gets chosen. This is why: “Coach Gundy, he’s a great dresser himself, so he wouldn’t let us go out in anything foolish.”
