INDIANAPOLIS — Dez Bryant said Friday his biggest regret in being suspended by the NCAA last season was not telling the truth.
The former Oklahoma State wide receiver met with NFL team personnel on Friday morning, then conducted a press conference at Lucas Oil Stadium. He said it wasn't difficult answering all the questions posed to him because he simply learned to tell the truth.
Bryant — who won't work out at the NFL Scouting Combine because he tweaked the same hamstring he hurt last fall — said he feels OSU fans will have fond memories of his days on the field, and not bitter recollections of his suspension.
He also said his relationship with Deion Sanders is as good as ever, and his relationship with Mike Gundy is "real good; not bad at all."
The last time Bryant was in Indianapolis was when he was being interviewed — some suggest interrogated — at NCAA headquarters last fall.
Bryant is widely regarded as the best wide receiver prospect in the draft. Earlier Friday, long-time NFL general manager Charley Casserly said he thinks Bryant can be a high draft pick and have a successful career — if teams can get past any doubts about his character.
"What people have told me is perhaps top five," said Casserly, now an analyst with NFL Network. "Explosive, rangy. Perhaps learning a system will be somewhat of an adjustment there, an adjustment to pro life and the situation in the NFL. Those are things you probably want to monitor a little bit as you go through the spring."
