OSU's Richetti Jones wants to steal the show (GameDay).

Fair warning to ESPN's GameDay crew while in Stillwater: Watch out for Richetti Jones. He wants to steal one of your jobs.

Jones, an articulate junior defensive end at Oklahoma State, said he is shooting "full speed ahead" for a future job at ESPN.

"That is my plan to get back on ESPN and do GameDay one day," he said. "I want to be able to walk on the field after a game and interview my head coach. I want to interview coach (Mike) Gundy one day and I'll say 'I'm live at Oklahoma State with coach Gundy' and send it back to ESPN. That's one part of my dream."

Notice that Jones said his plan is to get "back on ESPN." In the summer of 2007, before reporting to campus, the former blue-chip prospect was a cast member on ESPN's "Summer House," hosted by Chris Spielman.

Jones is not majoring in communications. He's an education major because he's got a blueprint in mind. He wants to play football for pay for a few years (he says he will invest the money instead of buying cars and gold chains) and then move on to a career as a principal or athletic director. And if he somehow gets a break that would allow him to be in the broadcasting business, that would be ideal.

Jones was asked during a Monday press conference about the following GameDay-related subjects:

How do you feel about GameDay coming to OSU?

"That's all for the fans. It feels good they are coming here and I feel that it's like a gift to our fans for us working hard and winning games and we get GameDay coming to our campus and (viewers will) see Stillwater and we'll let our fans enjoy it. Everyone watches GameDay every week before the games on Saturday on different campuses. I feel good and feel honored that we were able to play good enough football to get GameDay to come here."

College football players are usually sequestered in hotels on Saturdays. Do you still get to watch GameDay?

"That's the first thing that's on. We wake up in the morning for breakfast and come back and GameDay is on all our TVs. It's going to be very interesting for GameDay to be right there at our school, right there in the back of us, going on right then."

What's going to happen when it's time for Lee Corso and the other cast members to pick a Bedlam winner?

"Hey, honestly, I really don't care what they say because we are just going to play football, but I would hope they would pick us. I hope they pick the Cowboys. But, for the most part, we are just going to go out and play. It's clear that you can't look into those things or what people say or where they rank you because everybody picked us to be last in the Big 12 this year. So what people say really doesn't matter to us."

You don't want Corso picking the Cowboys.

I can respect that plan Richetti. Good to see some of these kids with goals and not just about the cars and bling. Richetti Jones is all about keeping it real! Keep on ignoring the critics and take care of business one Saturday at a time. The rest of your plan will fall right into place.

Mr. Jones has battled injuries his entire career. It's great that he's finally able to play and have success this year.
