OSU's Wes Lunt: Tuxes before Texas?

Today should be an anxious day for Oklahoma State quarterback candidates Wes Lunt, J.W. Walsh and Clint Chelf. One of them -- doesn’t this sort of feel like a reality show? -- might find out if he has won, at least for now, the starting job.
Coach Mike Gundy said following the spring game that he hoped to pick a starting quarterback on Wednesday (which, of course, is today), but OSU’s sports information department sent out a hold-your-horses media advisory that it is not necessarily a given that the Cowboys will have an update on the quarterback situation.
Regardless of who wins the quarterback job, Lunt will soon get to experience something cool.
Lunt, who should be a senior at Rochester High School in Illinois right now, instead is an OSU freshman. He enrolled at the semester break and participated in spring drills. Kids in his position sacrifice some things (the final few months of high school should be an epic time) to get a jump-start on the future, but it’s neat that he will get to experience the best of both worlds.
For instance, Lunt’s father, Andy, confirmed this morning that Lunt has been granted permission to attend his high school prom on May 5.
Dad said he doesn’t know if son has a tux yet, but (sorry, ladies) he does have a prom date.
Wes also will get to return to Illinois to do the cap-and-gown thing. His high school commencement service will take place on Memorial Day weekend, according to his father, who is pleased that Wes’ new school and old school (“both of them have been great”) gave Wes the green light to attend the prom and graduation.
“I wanted him to be able to stand up there with his class,” Andy said.
Still to be answered: By the time Lunt walks across the stage, will he have already graduated to starting quarterback at a Big 12 school? He'll face tuxes before he ever has to face Texas, and that's how it should be.
