OSU's new quarterback, center working on chemistry

In addition to having a first-year quarterback, Oklahoma State has a new center in senior Evan Epstein. (Here's a story I did on Epstein for Monday's Tulsa World.)

During the spring and now into fall camp, the chemistry between Epstein and quarterback Wes Lunt has been coming along fine, Epstein said.

"(The tempo) is something Wes and I have really been working on, just getting used to each other," Epstein said. "He hasn’t been here that long, I haven’t been a starting center that long, so we’re both trying to feel each other out.

"But it’s a constant process and we’re working on it every day, talking and getting our signals down and our tempo. Each day it’s getting better. He’s doing a heck of a job."

Since transferring from Air Force after his freshman year, Epstein has minimal playing experience but has become familiar with the system over the past three years.

"He’s not played a lot, but he knows what’s going on," coach Mike Gundy said. "He’s practiced with us forever.

"We try as hard as we can to simulate game situations in practice, and he’s been there for a number of years. That should help him in a game situation."
