OU-FSU and OSU-TU

It's a big weekend on the field in advance of what could be a big week off it.

So, what do you make of No. 1 Oklahoma vs. No. 5 Florida State?

Dave Sittler mentioned during SportsExtra: On Demand earlier this week that former OU coach Barry Switzer said the Sooners should win by two touchdowns.

Phil Steele, author of his own college football preview magazine, has OU by seven.

Lance Zierlein, a Houston radio talker whose dad is a longtime NFL assistant coach, posted on Twitter this week: "Spoke with a scout watching OU and FSU on tape who says that based on film, OU will win by double digits as they will dominate FSU's o-line."

So what does this mean? That Oklahoma is the better team, and if the Sooners don't win, they'll only have themselves to blame.

Of course, the Sooners were 3-2 in road games a year ago. And Landry Jones threw five interceptions in those games, while throwing just seven in the other nine contests. And it might be the biggest non Florida or Miami home game in FSU history.

So the Seminoles definitely have the intangibles on their side, but by most accounts the Sooners have the talent.

As for the Late Show at Chapman Stadium, Oklahoma State is a surprisingly small favorite (the game opened around 11 and is up to 13.5, for recreational purposes only, of course).

It's obviously a classic trap game, as OSU travels to College Station for its Big 12 opener next week. And maybe the late start could have both teams a little off their game.

But I would be surprised if the Cowboys didn't score a convincing victory -- although one OSU alumni expects a closer game.

"I'd like to be 20 points up and leave five minutes into the third quarter. I bet I don't leave in the third quarter," T. Boone Pickens said during his appearance Friday in Broken Arrow. "I've never found Tulsa easy. It will be a tougher game than the 14 points."

So there you have it. Get the remote ready and enjoy another great day of college football.
