OU Basketball Is An Easy Fix

Jeff Capel may have been at Oklahoma for five years but he got only two years before OU said that was enough.
Just about everything was fine, thanks to Blake Griffin, until the past two years.
When it turned south, and OU suffered its first back-to-back losing seasons since 1967, Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione did not hesitate.
No need to let the losing linger. Capel is gone.
It sends a strong message that Oklahoma isn’t willing to let basketball just fade away.
Even at a football school, with a nice basketball tradition, it is important that basketball be more than something to do before spring football starts.
That’s the way it should be.
Basketball is not a hard sport to build. It takes a couple of good players, with good facilities and fan base, and things are good.
So, two losing seasons with prospects for another tough year is not where you want to be.
Castiglione knew. Basketball can be fixed in a hurry. Someone other than Capel will fix it.

Unfortunately, OU has none of the above.

With no elite recruits on the way.

And the NCAA looming in the shadows.

But yeah... quick fix...

OU is very fortunate to have an Athletic Director like Joe Castiglione.

He's not afraid to make the right decisions or the hard decisions.

Which usually leads him to making the smart decision.

Oh yeah..all it takes a couple of good players and you are right back on top. That is of course unless someone else's couple of good players are better than your couple of good players. If it was a quick fix Knucklehead, coaches would never be fired!

Really, all you need to be is average to be above average.

It was Joe C's mess to clean up. After all, he hired the hack.

Didn't seem like a hack at the time. Unfortunately, in the sporting world "it's what have you done for me lately". Winning is good deodorant. Covers up all that stinks.

Carry My Pads must be thinking about only the LNC arena and isn't aware of the first rate practice facility that OU built.
