OU Hoopsters Free Stoops!

And so concludes arguably the worst in-state college basketball season in history.
Picker's Note: TU is still playing in something like the CSI post-post-post season tournament, the Crime Scene Invitational. Because it's a crime to wind up in something this bad.
There is a sense of improvement at TU because it beat UAB in overtime.
OK.
Count us in.
The CSI Invitational reminds us of needing to move AHEAD to square one.
Next year, let's aim a little higher than our backside, all right?
OSU was obliterated in the NIT, and athletic department owner Pickens is silent about Sutton's future. The coach does need to figure a way to get to the end of a game without looking like he just got out of a washing machine.
ORU was again obliterated after winning a conference that is little better than a tough intramural league at an ACC school.
And OU, well, it did the best.
Remember that sinking feeling at the big post-season game when the West Virginia quarterback ran wild against Venable's defense, and the OU quarterback seemed to get a little nervous while running too long in one place?
Remember wishing the nation hadn't been watching?
Well, that one-sided national TV image has been over-shadowed by the basketball team losing to Louisville by 30, 40, somewhere in there.
What Fiesta Bowl?
We're number one!

Grumpy shows his backside by continually bashing TU. Clearly they are past square one -- don't forget how this season started. Here's the kicker: the Picker will be at the game.

Gotta disagree. Losing to WVU in football was MUCH more humilating. Watching a team who could play SO MUCH better than it did against WVU hurts worse than watching a team that went much further than anyone had hoped this season.

Pick, Pick, Pick, come on, now. Never tire of either stating the obvious OR flogging those dead horses hauling the Sooner Schooner, do you? Of course that Fiesta Bowl loss was worse than the *ss kicking OU took against Louisville. After all, was there a realistic person in the state of O that didn't expect Oklahoma to have their jock straps handed to them at mid-court anyway? But you did say one thing I heartily agree and identify with...I was cringing at the though of the entire country watching last season's Fiesta and the season before that and the '05 Orange Bowl, oh yeah, and the '04 Sugar Bowl.

TU wins again. Can't wait to read how the Picker attempts to make winning, basketball, and people having fun look like a bad thing. Go TU!

Dearest Picker,
I've been a watchdog of your activities and have called you out when I felt necessary, but I have to admit this is one of your best lines ever.

At least TU is still playing. Mr. Picker, when you go to the game tomorrow night at the Reynold's Center be sure not to have a good time! Maybe the CBI isn't the NCAA or the NIT but the games are fun and it gives our boys more experience and playing time.

Next year TU ought to host their own Tournament. Instead of sharing the vast TV revenue with the Gazelle Group, whatever the heck that is, they could divvy up the buck three fifty amongst the Cupcake USA conference and everyone would be happy. It makes great sense, pay 60K for a home game or pay nothing and host it. Invite teams nobody follows anyway and ensure a good run.....GENIUS!
Then, on the recruiting trail claim you are number 98th in the nation......WIN WIN!

Matthew, that's the way, you see something you like, send money.
To the rest of you, I surrender on this one: The CSI tournament is the greatest thing to happen to TU since journalism and film study became courses, athletes welcome.
Beating Joe Pesci's favorite team, America's Utes, is the greatest. Get the blue dye. Call Southern Hills and ask for the Mayor. Reserve Bartlett Square for a celebration.
Just think, what if we (TU) get in the NIT next year.
There's not enough confetti in the state.

Lots of people having fun. Must be horrible for the Picker -- no fun allowed ever. If people are miserable, it's easier to make fun of them. Go TU! When it all for the Picker!

TAB, come on, I'm in the boat. I was there! Right down by Mad Dog. It was great, even better than getting to the final eight in the NCAA tourney. Know why? No nerves.
TAB
Mad Dog walked in front of me, barking during Uzoh's late free throws. Mad Dog has never felt nerves, NCAA tournament or loss to Wright State. We should all be more like him and just have fun. It was sure fun to beat old Utah. Houston is another opponent Wojcik has wanted a piece of for awhile (although he may have backed off on the radio). It would sure be fun to watch Penders lose . . .

PS
There really were no nerves in the game to go to the Elite Eight. We waxed an awful Miami team. The only nerves that whole tourney were in the loss to UNC . . .

What's this thing called women's basketball?
When the ball goes under the basket, it looks like rugby.
They should be able to shoot, they use a smaller basketball on the same size hoop.
Don't the same teams win every year?
Getting back to TU, could the reason so many people are so excited be because they're playing bums?
Probably not, I apologize and withdraw the question.
TAB

Is the Picker out of original material? Probably, but I'll follow suit and withdraw the question. Have fun tomorrow night!

You are right about women's basketball, Picker. Also, I watched the OSU game last night and couldn't help but think to myself, "Is this a high school game?" It might as well have been with the way Andrea Riley kept getting the ball and jacking up awful shot after shot. A couple didn't even hit the backboard! With that said, how did OSU get so screwed with their placement and seeding? How is it beneficial to be the #3 seed and play in your opponent's backyard in the Sweet 16 when you could be the #4 seed and play 30 minutes away from your own university? I'd rather play a home game against a #1 seed than an away game against a #2 seed any day. I'm sure Sherri Cole had nothing to do with that whatsoever...

Hey, NOSE Picker, at leasst TU is the last state school still playing in post season. You denegrate the CBI, but it has good teams that played in it. ORU, OU or OSU didn't belong in any post season play!! GoooooooooooooTU!
Matthew

Pretty lame Frank. Pretty lame.

CBI/CSI/whatever... Yea I agree. The only thing I care about is that our young guys get some decent OOC experience. This tourney has been great for TU.
Given that Woj, Bubba, and Stead really haven't seen how this town will support a winner, it's all good to motivate them to improve the product and prove there is a significant population that will support TU if you win and actually play someone.
Honestly, I don't want anything to do with this tourney next year, but it's a good thing right now for sure.
This tourney is about next year, and Tulsans are excited right now no matter what the initials are of this thing.

Now I dont know if ill send money but the line with Sean Sutton looking like he just got out of the washing machine was a great line! Seriously made me laugh out loud....funny stuff!
