OU, OSU, TU should learn from Self

Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Tulsa can learn from Kansas basketball coach Bill Self.
How Self handled the eligibility question surrounding Josh Selby, the nation’s top-ranked basketball recruit, was perfect.
After KU beat North Texas, it was announced in the press room that the NCAA had ruled Selby ineligible for the first nine games of the season for improper benefits provided Selby.
Rather than hide Selby, by not allowing him to talk to the media, or the coach ducking all questions about it, Self walked into the media room with Selby.
Selby and Self then answered questions for about 20 minutes.
The writers and broadcaster did their stories on the incident. And, it was over.
Media relations folks at KU swear it was Self’s idea. It was fantastic.
That should be a lesson to OU, OSU and Tulsa athletic officials and coaches.
If you have some news that might not be something you want to talk about, do what Self did. Have your coach and any player involved talk about it.
Then, it is over. It does not stretch out over weeks or months. There is no speculation in the media.
It is over and you can move on. Simple. Perfect. Just like we would expect from Self.

Didn't Gundy and Blackmon do the same thing a few weeks back?

Cam Newton= The next Reggie Bush. Take some pics with that trophy, you won't have it long.

The Blackmon example came to my mind as well. The Tulsa World won't show Gundy any credit but will still be the lapdog for Bill Self. Nothing against Self, but don't expect any kudos to Gundy from these guys.
