OU or OSU on the Gridiron in 2011/12?
Published: 4/13/2011 3:34 PM
Last Modified: 4/13/2011 3:34 PM

It's third down and 12 yards to go, in Stillwater.
OU has the football, late, leading OSU, hanging on, some might say.
Boone Pickens reaches for his checkbook.
Mike Holder considers raising prices of end zone seats.
WATCH THE PASS! many think, many cry out. OU had just scored on a long toss, a similar situation. WATCH THE STINKING PASS! IT IS THE ONLY WAY THEY CAN BEAT US. ONE PLAY FOR THE GAME!
They didn't watch the pass. The corner went fishing. OU completed a rocket that went the length of the field.
Game over.
This time, same location.
Similar players.
What's different?
OU has one tough early road game, at Florida State.
OSU has the toughest conference road schedule in football history: At Texas A&M, at Texas, at Missouri, at Texas Tech, at Iowa State!
Five toss-ups?
Three toss-ups and two squeakers?
At Texas, McCoy's bigger little brother figures to beat out the interception machine from a year back.
OU and OSU in Stillwater again, outside of the negative fan vibe, wouldn't the Cowboys be favored?
What negative fan vibe?
Today, according to the fans, the Cowboys can't be beaten.
Game day, the vibe goes: Oh, sure, we may be up by 20 with three minutes, 30 seconds to go, but something terrible is bound to happen.

I think we've got a shot this year, we're a team on the rise!

Sure Dr. "Charlie Brown" Strangelove: Watch out for Lucy. She just might pull the ball away from you at the last instant, AGAIN!!

Homer,

I bleed orange, but I will never argue with an OU fan who contends the Pokes will choke come Bedlam. OSU must prove itself!

The NBA playoffs begin this upcoming weekend & there is an OKLAHOMA TEAM INVOLVED....

But Tulsa gets sports page stuff about football....

So nice, so very nice....

No wonder the TW Picks person believed that the Thunder trade with the Celtics was a "Thunder blunder"....

What's different?

A healthy Justin Blackmon and an OC that isn't scared to run the football. That's what...

You should really get out more Picker.

I see both sides.

On one end, I agree with CinciJoe that when your All-American running back is averaging over 4 yards per carry in that game, you run him more than just twelve times.

On the other end, the defense must hold its own in tough situations. It certainly didn't do that last year late in the Bedlam fourth quarter.

Either way, it's a different year. It's going to be a great game no matter what.

OU and OSU will be top five football teams.

The Thunder isn't quite a top five hoop team.

Besides: The Thunder Blunder is still up in the air. Perkins is averaging what, 4.4 a game? But the team could have lucked out, as the trade has opened up room for Ibaka to go moderately berserk on a regular basis. The Denver series could go seven. The Alamo team is a toss-up.

It will be another shoot out with another epic ending. The difference? All in all.... nothing. OSU D looks to be much improved and OU's special teams also looks to be more reliable. OSU is stacked at RB and WR but OU is definately #2 in probably both categories entering the big 12. Although the cowboy D has been reloaded OU will still have the edge there. So theoretically nothing has changed and it should be another barn burner.

And fyi tulsandn altough everybody loves the thunder and we are happy as Oklahomans to have a pro team. College football is king in okie land, always has been always will be. All college sports (especially football) will always be the most important thing. Even if we had an NFL team I still believe college sports will still remain the most important aspect of our sporting events. And that is why I love being an okie!!!

Entertaining article...fun reading. Thx.

Cincy: not being afraid to run the ball isnt the answer for success. OSU had the best running back in the league last year. Jeremy Smith is not in Kendal Hunter...
codystovall (last year)
Buh??? Kendall was awsome I loved having him in the backfield, but collectively Smith, Randall and Sims will re wright and already historic rushing record book. Granted no one in college football will never be the second coming of Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas, Randall is a good combo of R.W. McQuarters and Tatum Bell plus a few pounds. Smith is a good combo of say David Thompson and Kieth Toston. If Smith will learn to just hit the hole and run naturally he will with out a doubt be the starter by opening kickoff.

Hilarious. The tight end OU threw to (James Hanna) couldn't outrun me... yet he ran 86 yards away from the osu secondary. osu provides such entertainment. They're just funny.
