OU's Future Foes Ranked
Published: 10/9/2006 9:58 AM

Oklahoma's remaining opponents do not look like a murderer's row but there are potential problems out there.

A look at the potential trouble, ranked from biggest threat to smallest:

1. Missouri - The Tigers are good. They appear to be the clear choice in the north. Even in years when Mizzou wasn't nearly as good, the Tigers are tough to beat at home. OU on the road at Columbia is the stiffest test left for Oklahoma.

2. Texas A&M - The Aggies are always a tough game on the road. A&M isn't that good but the Aggies are good enought to win in College Station if OU doesn't play well.

3. Baylor - Don't laugh. The Bears are much better and home always helps. It would take some help from OU but this is why you play the games.

4. Texas Tech - Never count out the Red Raiders. The offense is too wild to write this in as a sure bet.

5. Iowa State - This is a longshot for an upset. Iowa State probably isn't as bad as it has looked at times but the Cyclones don't appear capable of winning in Norman.

6. Oklahoma State - OSU has been tough on OU in recent years in Stillwater. However, the Cowboys' defense doesn't appear good enough to even slow down OU's Peterson.

7. Colorado - It is in Norman against the league's worst team (Buffs won't win a game this year). You do the math.

perhaps this team isn't as good yet as it is going to be. and as young as they are, it may not be this year. a lack of experience and maturity is generally what causes mental errors. stoops is an impatient coach and while the raw talent is there, it is a huge leap from high school to college especially major college football. consider that alot of the o-line the last game they played before game one of this season was a high school game. big difference in speed and strength. takes a while to adjust. a qb that started for only the second time in the first game of this year, and a porous and questionable secondary, little experience in the middle of the d-line and over rated defensive ends. if oklahoma finishes 10-2 they should get a major bowl bid and would really be 11-1. every one knows they got cooked in oregon.
