Oh No: Not OU Basketball Too!
Published: 11/27/2009 12:05 PM

As hard as it is to believe, the OU basketball team could have been more overrated than the OU football team!

Forget air ball, this team has been playing air defense so far.

Doesn't the hoop team know that it is supposed to save the sports year for Sooner fans?

December foe Gonzaga could double OU's final total.

With the OU women overrated as well, where have all the geniuses gone?

What happened to all those can't-miss McDonald All-Americans?

What sport is left to restore order, polo?

Mr. Picker, I suggest that Presdient Boren has put athletics in its proper place and is attempting to restore academia.   In two short years OU will eligible to join the Ivy League.   I think Boren got tired of Tulsa University always being ahead of his school in the aspect of a "college" that matters.

Yeah, I'd write them off too, Pick.  They should not lose or look bad, ever.  I mean heck, they were picked 11-21 and those guys are never wrong.  This is basketball for Pete's sake.  You lose and you're done.  Those young guys should have been college game tested and ready months ago.  What's Capel doing down there?  I'd fire an assistant or two if I were him.  How much is he making?  Probably too much.  Just go ahead and get rid of him too.  What is going on with OU athletics?  Don't they know they are never supposed to lose or underachieve?  Let's just end sports at OU completely and focus on meteorology.  Moron.

Well...there is always...um...gymnastics?

It just goes to show that in college, you can't rely on great recruiting alone. Sometimes, you have to also be able to coach.

Like Gundy and Ford I suppose, huh Mex?  I wish we could get good coaches like you guys have.  Their accomplishments speak for themselves.

Massked Assasin - BOTH OSU coaches have done more with less.  Capel lost the player that made hi look like a good coach.  To bad Sean Suttton was never sober enough to get little Griffen to come to OSU like little Griffen wanted.  If so, Sean would look like a big time coach like Capel did last year.  Capel is back to being average.

Everyone with a clue knew we would see if Capel could coach or not this year, any 8 year old could coach Blake Griffin and his 'big' brother (who also made an NBA roster). Capel's first year was a losing campaign and this year will be too. Say what you want about Sampson, there hasnt been a Capel team play as hard or as tough a defense one time as Sampson's teams did regularly. Sampson's first year, with OU supposedly in rebuilding mode, went 24-9 and he was AP coach of the year.

Hey no one told me that basketball ended in December!  I thought it didn't even start until January myself, how wrong I am.  Should OU just cancel the rest of their games, as most seem to feel they have no chance at success.

The mark of a great coach is getting the most out of all of his players as a team.  This usually takes some time, practice, effort and game experience.  So tell me again in March how bad OU sucks, and how bad a coach we have.
