Oh, why not... Boise State to the Big 12!

When does one college football game last a lifetime? When it's played by Oklahoma and Boise State in Glendale, Ariz., Jan. 1, 2007.
The When-You-Wish-Upon-A-Star Fiesta Bowl has popped up again, thanks to Bruce Feldman of ESPN.com. He lists four football rivalries he'd like to see "built" -- USC-Alabama, Florida-Notre Dame, Pitt-Penn State and... Duh! Duh! Duuuuuh!... OU-Boise.
"It's great whenever Boise State gets a crack at one of the college football powerhouses," Feldman writes. "This would be a rematch of the great Fiesta Bowl game, which would set up a fascinating storyline to kick off any series."
Honestly, could it happen? Chris Petersen is chummy enough with Bob Stoops to drop by the Sooners' spring practice. That's a start.
The BCS could always set up a rematch, maybe even in Glendale some January night.
Still, if people really want to see Disney on Turf again, maybe they should start lobbying for Boise to jump right over the Mountain West in the Great Conference Shakeup Sweepstakes, and try for the Big 12 instead.
If I'm the Big 12 and I'm really looking at BYU and Utah as westward expansion possibilities should Missouri and Nebraska really cut and run, I'd just as soon consider the Broncos.
And if I'm Boise athletic director Gene Bleymaier, I'm replaying the soundbite I gave Yahoo!Sports columnist Dan Wetzel back in November, after Wetzel asked if the Broncs would accept a Big 12 invite?
"Yeah, of course," Bleymaier replied.
