One of the Greatest Drillers Ever

The Tulsa Drillers knew they were getting a potential star before Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez arrived for the 1991 season.
Rodriguez was even better than expected and he spent less than a half season with the Drillers.
Rodriguez was called up to Texas in late June after a fabulous start in Tulsa.
He went from Tulsa to the big leagues and spent 21 years as a perennial all-star and Gold Glove catcher.
In his short time in Tulsa, Rodriguez was incredible.
Very few tried to steal bases on Rodriguez. Even fewer succeeded.
One of the legendary, and true stories, about Rodriguez is that one attempt base stealer tried to go back to first.
The Rodriguez throw to second, on the attempted steal, beat the runner by so much that the runner had time to turn around and try to get back to first base.
Rodriguez made the move from Tulsa to Arlington when he was 19 years ago. Now, at 40, Rodriguez officially retired on Thursday.
He was 14-time all-star and won 12 Gold Gloves.
He would appear to be a certain hall-of-famer as one of the top three or four catchers in baseball history.
And, he has a spot as one of the greatest Tulsa Drillers in history.
