Oregon-Boise Shouldn't Surprise Anyone

The ugly incident, sparked when a Boise State player and Oregon player got together after the game, shouldn't surprise anyone.
Not that it wasn't 100 percent wrong for the Oregon player to lose his cool. And, the Boise State player should not have apparently taunted the Oregon player.
But, football is not a square dance. This is a violent sport that puts players in combat for more than three hours.
Add in the frustration for Oregon and the possibility of something ugly after the game increases.
The pregame handshake that teams will do this weekend is kind of a joke.
And, even after the game, many players should just take their frustrations and behavior problems straight to the locker room.
There needs to be harsh penalties for the Oregon player. And, the Boise State player deserves some discipline, too.
But, trying to act like athletes can turn off the competitive juices in a matter of minutes after a game is not realistic.
