Playing Nice

This is one aspect of the pre-national championship game smack-talking fest that hasn't been analyzed yet: What if Dominique Franks was just being nice?
Franks estimated that three Big 12 quarterbacks are better than Florida's Tim Tebow.
As a matter of statistical fact, 10 -- that's 10 -- Big 12 quarterbacks rank ahead of Tebow in total offense. The only Big 12 QBs who rank below Tebow are the ones who play for Colorado and Texas A&M.
Tebow ranks 41st nationally in total offense, which seems pretty high for a guy who supposedly got jobbed out of a second consecutive Heisman.
But, that said, Tebow is one of those fellers who can't be judged solely on statistics. Take a good look at the way he carries himself. He's not a guy you would want to bet against very often no matter whether he is playing football or jacks.
However, it shouldn't spark fainting spells when someone suggests there are other quarterbacks who might be better than Tebow. It's entirely possible, you know?
Subplot: The Oklahoma and Florida coaches are blaming Franks' quote on the media asking "leading" questions to a poor little lamb of a player.
Get out of here with that.
Coaches bear responsibility for telling their players not to get "led" anywhere by a question.
If someone in the media asks a Florida or Oklahoma player what they think about each other, the players should have been "coached up" to say nothing but sickeningly nice things. Probably, players were instructed to do that.
You can lead a horse to water....

I think Tebow is an outstanding young man, but didn't he end up third in the Heisman vote this year? Two big 12 quarterbacks finished ahead of him. If the Franks kid said Tebow would be the 3rd best qb in the Big 12, would the same media people aggree with him???
I am no Sooner fan by any means, but I think the media is blowing this way out of proportion.
