Please Put Some Clothes on, Women

What is with the too-brief briefs worn by the 6-5 female beach volleyball players at the Olympics?
Guy beach volleyball players wear regular baggy shorts.
How might the plastered-on bikini parts help the lumbering players cut through the ankle-deep sand?
There's no wind to resist.
Does sand fly off skin and into the eyes of opponents?
Most of the the staff here at the Picker desk is usually all for gratuitous displays of female skin.
But this is more for show than go and is a little embarrassing. Come on women, use your minds.

Come on WOMEN?! You think a WOMAN was in charge of skimping on female uniforms? You think olympians design their own bathing suits? You have been watching too much Project Runway, girlfriend.

I wear jockey undies and I love horseracing but it's just a coincidence.

Men wear boxer shorts because they are less constricting than briefs. Women do not wear loose underwear, there is no point. There is nothing to constrict.

come on get real. its what they wear while on the beach or in comp's all the time. how about this. how about you turn off the tv change the channel or how about griping about the speedo's phelps wore. how about this. how about you stop being such a prude and realize that its only the human body. and if yuor titilated by what they wore/wear you have deeper issues then what most would think.

Hey Licker,
Sometimes you make it too easy. Although I must say I'm not surprised that you want the women to cover up. I've always suspected that the Licker was the "In The Wright Light" guy.
I'm also not surprised that you don't wear loose underwear. There's nothing to constrict with you either.

To truly show the world what America is all about, the girls should be required to have massive breast implants.

Picker, shhhhhhh! Let the girls be. Obviously, those girls feel liberated by wearing what they do and I, as man who is all for women's lib, think they should be able to wear their skimpy bikini outfits or even less, if they so choose.

Picker,
The people who need more clothes are the synchronized diving men.
First, you see see them dive together. As the camera follows...
Then you see them shower together. Sometimes, with other guys too. As the camera follows...
I enjoy seeing the girls not wear lots of clothes. Come on now.

I love playing beach volleyball except that keep tripping on my burqa.

Picker. Are you freakin' nuts? You seem to think your views on women's volleyball are as relevant as your views on other sports. I say, women volleyballers, don't wear more clothes...but you could maybe soak what you are wearing with a bucket of cold water. Yeah...that'll work.

If you cellmates think women volleyball players are nice in those outfits, wait until you get a look at the Euro shot-putters.
These volleyers, it's like seeing Olive Oyl in a bikini.
Male up, out there.

Perhaps the skimpy attire is all about the 'beach' theme. Seriously, what do we care what they wear? As much as these athletes work to get to that position in the first place, who has the right to tell them what to wear as long as it's within the rules of competition?

While I seldom find anything agreeable about WP, including most definitely his taste in the opposite sex, I must agree that the women's volleyballers will never be confused with a Victoria Secret model.
Now, who among you fashionistas will march up to any one of them and tell them so?
Anyone? There could be a Chaw t-shirt in it for you.
Freedom of movement, lightness of weight and aerodynamics may all account for the attire worn by all the competing athletes. Thankfully the Olympics only come around about as often as an IRS audit.

I got it! We could go old school like the ancient olympics.
All nude!
Of course, that only applies to the women.

Male up, picker?
I think that explains it all, folks.
Bet we will see the picker looking for a "Macho Man" at the "YMCA" tonight.

I agree with the picker and I've heard a lot of other women who say the same thing - the beach volleyball women need to put on more clothes. If the men can wear lose shorts why can't the women cover themselves up a bit more too? Personally it's a bit embarressing as a woman to watch these women dig sand out of their crotch with my teenage son.

Thank you very much, Dawn, a voice of sanity among the jokers. Please check in from time to time. It's work trying to educate the drop-outs.
Why don't Ping Pong players wear plastered-on bikinis?
The painted on volleyball gear is unbecoming.

i love to watch male swimmers in bikinis. I love the definition of their bodies. they are quite beautiful. however, the weight lifters are kind of grotesque. Can somebody make them wear skirts? That particular area is really offensive and once Dawn proved that it is ok to mention crotch on this blog, i am not afraid to express this opinion. What is wrong with men lifting weights in skirts? According to picker, if there are no functional problems with modesty, then what remains is pleasing the prudish viewer, and I think weight lifters show too much. So cover them up. With skirts. Please.

The subject matter is beach volleyball not swimming or weight lifting or any of the other sports in the Games. Seems as though some have a problem staying with the subject. Maybe that's why they are dropouts. We could debate for days on appropriate attire for the other sports that isn't so revealing but I didn't understand that to be the subject matter.
The speedos are a bit disturbing too on the men swimmers but, more importantly, where is the body hair and are the drains clogged up at the team hotel now?
World Picker

Who picks what the players wear, anyway?
Hooters?
Weightlifters and swimmers can't wear much and perform as well as when they're stripped down. Any brief bit of clothing that helps somebody perform better is understandable.
But volleyball players, the gear seems strictly for show. Look at the stylishly put together badminton smackers, first class all the way

FIVB, the international beach volleyball organization, Rule 5.1.1 reads: "A player's equipment consists of shorts or a bathing suit."
Now, the difference between badminton and volleyball, as far as apparel goes, is that there is no sand in badminton. Any woman who has ever body surfed at the beach prefers a bikini. Emptying sand out of a one piece suit takes forever and there are more spaces to fill up. Less is more in beach volleyball strategy, when abiding by international rules.
You have a problem with the unis, complain to the international organization, not to the women playing the sport, and certainly do not about their big muscles.
Glad I could help out.
As for you Dawn, I'll try not to use analogies or sarcasm in the future.
