It's my pleasure to correspond with you for the first time as the Sports Editor of the Tulsa World.

As the bio to the right mentions, I've spent my entire career in Texas, including the last three years in Houston.

Please don't hold that against me.

I've already met so many nice people in Tulsa. It's easy to see why the city has such a wonderful reputation.

As a graduate of Texas A&M, I know well the importance of Big 12 football. And after spending the last three years as the High School Sports Editor at the Houston Chronicle, I'm excited to be in another community that's crazy about high school football.

I plan to use this space to comment on the biggest sports stories of the day, answer your questions and share personal experiences.

I hope we can have a dialogue. We may not always agree, but I hope we can always get along.

Speaking of personal experiences, I have to thank the people at the Josh Hatzell Memorial Ram Run in Owasso last weekend for their hospitality. I enjoy running -– just not very fast.

But I do hope to be back in shape in time for the Route 66 Half Marathon in November.

So thanks to everyone for the warm welcome to Tulsa (OK, so 107 degrees was a little too warm).

In case no one has told you, we have football at the University of Tulsa and their football is important to us as well as the Big 12. Since you came from Houston you may have heard of CUSA. I hope the World will continue to report on their season. Best wishes for a great career in Tulsa.
