Oklahoma State running back Joseph Randle expects a Friday trip to ESPN to be fun. One reason why is because of the company he will be keeping.
Randle will be joined by three Big 12 players -- Kansas State linebacker Arthur Brown, West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith and Texas defensive end Jackson Jeffcourt -- at ESPN’s headquarters.
“It will be a great opportunity to hang out with a guy I grew up with,” Randle said.
Randle and Brown are from Wichita, Kan. Randle said they used to run on the same relay team when they were in grade school.
Randle said the other members of the relay team were Bryce Brown, a former Kansas State running back, and Oliver Bradwell, who anchored the United States’ gold medal-winning 4 x 100 relay team at the 2010 IAAF World Junior Championships.
Told that his star-studded youth relay team must have been pretty good, Randle said, “Tell me about it. We were blowing people out.”
Randle, who was among three players chosen to represent OSU at the Big 12’s football media days, isn’t worried about all the interviews he will be asked to do while going through ESPN’s “Car Wash.”
“I’m good to go,” he said. “I’ve had a lot of practice. Practice makes perfect.”
Randle said he watches ESPN “almost daily” and is a fan of Stephen A. Smith and the “Mike and Mike in the Morning” show.
When asked what is on his wish list for the ESPN tour, Randle said, “I want it all to happen when I go down there. I want the full experience.”
OSU sports publicist Gavin Lang released Randle's "Car Wash" itinerary via Twitter on Thursday. Randle and the Big 12 crew will be on podcasts with Ivan Maisel from 9-9:45 a.m. Among other tour stops will be an ESPN.com chat from 10-10:40 a.m., a "College Football Live" appearance at 12:30 p.m. and SportsCenter interviews at 2:20 and 2:40 p.m.
