Recruiting wish: No winter weather

Boy, I wish that big orange ball of fire in the sky can eliminate this bright white icy mess that has crippled our area the last few days.
The Oklahoma State football staff would love if this wintery mix would get the heck out of here. For the second time in the past seven weeks, Mother Nature cancelled another recruiting weekend for the Cowboys. Last weekend, OSU was scheduled to have its biggest group of recruits visiting campus, approximately 13. But the blast of ice, sleet and freezing rain that arrived prevented those recruits getting to Stillwater.
Despite no visitors, the Cowboys did land two commitments. Norman High School cornerback Ryan Broyles is a pleasant surprise. The gifted athlete could earn his way into the defensive back rotation and definitely contribute early on special teams. Getting a kid out of the University of Oklahoma’s backyard is a coup, even if the Sooners waited to the last minute to express serious interest.
OSU’s other commitment came from Tyler John Tyler High School running back Kendall Hunter, who has similar qualities to Dantrell Savage. Hunter is a compact 5-9, 185-pound back who ran for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns as a senior. Hunter fills a need at running back as two other tailbacks, Mike Hamilton and Calvin Roberts, transferred at semester.
The Cowboys have 15 commitments now and have about 8 scholarships to give. High-profile targets still on OSU’s wish list are Lufkin, Texas, wide receiver Dez Bryant, Tyler John Tyler offensive lineman Marquise Franklin and Oklahoma City Millwood athlete Gerald Jones.
